Brazil has taken another step towards exporting beef to Japan. The Japanese technical mission, which visited the country, assessed the Brazilian animal health system, an essential process for the future opening of this strategic market. The visit by the experts represents a milestone for the national industry, which seeks to meet the strict health requirements of Japan, one of the most demanding countries in the world when it comes to food imports.
Despite being the world's largest exporter of beef, Brazil still does not trade the product with Japan due to health restrictions. However, with the inspection completed, negotiations are moving forward, bringing optimism to the sector.
“It was an extremely productive meeting, marked by the President of the Republic’s clear commitment to the sector. The dialogue was open, direct and conducted with great respect. We are confident that we will move forward in opening up the Japanese market — a legitimate expectation of the sector, which is fully prepared to meet, with excellence, the highest standards required,” highlighted Roberto Perosa, president of ABIEC.
